Biography
I have been involved in the film industry for sixteen years, starting as an actor performingbit parts in Vancouver based TV series and B movies while attending university. After completing my first round of post secondary education, I purchased my first camera, a basic Arriflex 16mmpackage in 1992 with the intention to shoot wildlife documentaries. A few years later I traded in this camera package for a graciously accessorized Arriflex III generation three, continuing toshoot wildlife as well as music videos and television commercials. This lead to various 2nd unit director and DOP positions on a number of features and television series. With my computer science background, I started to expand into High Definition, shooting an inexpensive European television commercial in late 1996. From this introduction I began to work with a variety of 24p systems in both HD and Standard Definition. More recently I have had the opportunity to gain new experiences with the P+S Technik Pro 35 and Mini 35 Lens adapters. As well, I now havetwo Panasonic HVX200 Varicam production packages, including matte boxes, follow focuses, filters, on board monitors and a O’Connor 2575B head with Ronford standard and baby legs. There is another side to me other than film. I have been working in the community with a variety of charity and non-profit organizations for many years. I sat on the board of directors at the Salvation Army Youth Center for eight years as well as working with the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon for several years. I have been extremely active with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for the past eight years, talking in high schools and writing/directing numerous TV commercials for them. As well, I have worked as a youth leader in my local community of White Rock.
